Registration and Title Searches:

The Motor Vehicle Services Section of WYDOT may conduct vehicle title and registration searches for legitimate business purposes. Each requestor must submit a written request by completing the Privacy Disclosure Agreement Form, accompanied by a $5.00 fee. There are no charges for searches requested by law enforcement or governmental agencies. For additional title or registration search information contact Motor Vehicle Services at 307-777-4851.

Security Interests:

Shown on title held by debtor.

 

Recording Requirements:

Per the Uniform Commercial Code adopted July, 1962: All lien instruments are recorded by use of “financing statements” which are filed with the clerk of the county where property is located.

Recovery Requirements:

As per the UCC, repossession is allowed and permitted as long as it is peaceful.

Redemption Requirements:

Ten (10) day redemption.

Deficiency Requirements:

Judgment notes are probably not valid but deficiency permitted of authorized by lien instrument.

Special Motor Vehicle Provisions:

Lien is noted on certificate of title. Recording must be done with County Recorder.

 
Documents Required to Transfer Ownership of Motor Vehicle:

Title in lienholder’s name or debtor’s name; notarized Power of Attorney; affidavit of repossession.

 

Documents Required for Liquidation:

Title, Repossession Affidavit, and Copy of Contract.

 

Plates:

Remain with the owner / debtor.
